Ajman announces Eid Al Fitr holiday for government employees from March 19 to 22

Ajman’s Government Human Resources Department has confirmed a four-day break for Eid Al Fitr for all government employees in the emirate. The holiday will start on Thursday, March 19, and run until Sunday, March 22. Official work will resume on Monday, March 23.

Dates confirmed for Ajman government staff

The circular covers all government bodies, departments and institutions under the Ajman government. Employees will be off from Thursday, March 19 through Sunday, March 22, with the first day back at work set for Monday, March 23.

How this fits with wider UAE holiday timings

The dates mirror the Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule announced for the UAE federal government. Federal entities will also observe the break from March 19 to March 22, with work resuming on March 23.

For the private sector, the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has said Eid Al Fitr leave will be from March 19 to March 21, with a possible extension to Sunday, March 22 if Ramadan completes 30 days.

Why the moon sighting still matters

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan. It begins with the start of Shawwal, the next month in the Islamic calendar. The Islamic calendar is lunar, meaning dates can depend on the official sighting of the crescent moon.

Even so, public-sector schedules across the UAE have been set out clearly, helping employees and departments plan ahead.

What employees should keep in mind

Government departments typically maintain essential services through shift-based or emergency staffing where needed. Employees in roles that require continuous coverage should follow internal instructions from their department.

For most staff, the message is straightforward. The break runs March 19–22, and the return to work is Monday, March 23
