Armenia opens visa-free travel to UAE residents from 113 countries

Residents of the United Arab Emirates can now visit Armenia without a visa under a new temporary policy that runs from January 1 to July 1, 2026. The measure applies to residents from 113 nationalities and allows stays of up to 180 days within one year. The rule requires a valid residence permit for at least six months from the date of entry.

What changed and until when

Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed a “temporary visa exemption” for eligible residents holding permits issued by the UAE or by Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, as well as by the United States, European Union, or Schengen states. The window is fixed: entry without a visa is available only until July 1, 2026. After that date, standard rules may resume unless the government extends the scheme.

Armenia visa-free UAE residents: who qualifies

The exemption covers 113 listed countries, including India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, Lebanon and the State of Palestine. Travellers must present a residence permit as a physical card or as a visa-style sticker in the passport. In simple terms, “visa-free” means you do not need to apply for or pay for a visa before travel or on arrival; border control still checks entry conditions. A residence permit is an official document proving your right to live in a given country for a set period.

The stay limit is up to 180 days in a one-year period, unless another treaty applies. This condition aligns with Armenia’s general visa-free ceiling.

Documents and practical steps

Before booking, eligible residents should:

  1. Verify that their UAE residence permit will remain valid for at least six months from their planned entry date.
  2. Carry the permit in one of the accepted forms (card or sticker).
  3. Check their nationality appears on the official MFA list; the PDF lists all 113 countries.

Air links remain straightforward from the UAE. flydubai operates direct Dubai–Yerevan services, while Air Arabia flies non-stop from Sharjah. By contrast, Wizz Air’s Abu Dhabi operation ceased in 2025 and no longer connects Abu Dhabi to Yerevan.

Why Armenia is easing entry now

Tourism officials frame the move as a targeted boost to arrivals and connectivity across the Caucasus during the 2026 winter–spring season. The country previously waived visas for UAE citizens in 2017 and extended access to GCC citizens and residents in 2025; this new step broadens eligibility and simplifies planning for expatriates.

Where to find the full list and rules

The definitive source is the Ministry’s announcement and annexed PDF, which details all eligible nationalities, the 180-day stay cap, and the six-month residence-permit validity rule. Travellers should rely on these documents for pre-departure checks.

In short, Armenia has opened an easy visa-free window for UAE residents from 113 countries until July 1, 2026. With clear conditions—carry a valid residence permit and check your nationality—planning a Caucasus getaway is now simpler and faster
